“I am honored to welcome you...”

I’m honored to welcome you to the inception of the work on this web site with the following parable. This story, retold by Joseph Jaworski in the closing of his book, Synchronicity, captures the essence of the call to you and to me as we go about our life’s work.

“Tell me the weight of a snowflake,” a coal mouse asked a wild dove.

Nothing more than nothing,” was the answer.

“In that case, I must tell you a marvelous story,” the coal mouse said.

“I sat on the branch of a fir, close to its trunk, when it began to snow – not heavily, not in a raging blizzard – no, just like in a dream, without any wound and without any violence.  Since I did not have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles in my branch.  Their number was exactly 3,714,952.  When the 3,714,953rd dropped onto the branch, nothing more than nothing as you would say – the branch broke off.

Having said that, the coal-mouse flew away.

The dove, since Noah’s time an authority on the matter, thought about the story for a while, and finally said to herself, “Perhaps there is only one person’s voice lacking for peace in the world.”

No matter how humble it may seem, nor how highly prized by the world, what we do, in the grand scheme of things, weighs nothing more than nothing, yet, because we do it together, it means everything.  Whether our personal vision is for peace in the world, or peace in our home; to end world hunger or to feed a single hungry heart; this world needs our contribution.

What the coal-mouse observed, of course, was not just that the one more flake made a difference, but that every single flake contributed to the necessary weight of the whole.

In the following pages, you will have access to some of the ways I can offer to support your contribution.  These are all works in process and are radically shaped by collaboration and co-creation.

I look forward to hearing from you with any ideas on how we might work together.  There are many opportunities for your feedback and participation.  If nothing else, I hope that this time together will stimulate you to follow your own personal vision.

It’s an honor to be connected with you.

Warmest regards.... Betsy
